イベント内容：福岡USオークランド友好協会(FOFA) は「オークランドにおける日本人と日系人の歩みと営み」をテーマに歴史を語らう会を開きます。ゲストにお迎えするのは、オークランド出身で福岡にルーツを持つ、ゲリー富永さん(オークランド福岡姉妹都市協会副会長) です。太平洋と時空を越えるトピックを交えつつ、ウェスト・オークランドで生まれ育った日系人としての富永さんのご経験についてうかがいます。オークランドで長く続いた家族経営の種苗場、そして、その土地が地元先住民であるリシャン・オローニの人々へ受け繋がれていくエピソードもお聴きします。参加は無料です。会話に積極的に参加されたい方も、静かに耳を傾けたい方も、是非ご参加ください。日本語でも英語でも参加いただけます。

Event description: Fukuoka Oakland Friendship Association (FOFA) invites you to join in a conversation on a family history of Gary Tominaga, an Oakland local with family ties to Fukuoka and a long time member and the current 1st Vice President of Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association. Tominaga-san will take us on a transpacific journey through time and space as we discuss his experience as a Japanese American born in the South Side of Chicago and raised in West Berkeley. Our conversation will touch on how his wife’s family led a nursery business throughout the 20th century in the East Bay, and how their property will be restored back to the hands of Lisjan Ohlone, the first people of the East Bay. This is a free event. We welcome anyone who is interested. English-Japanese interpretation will be provided.
